Hot air balloon ran out of fuel, famous pilot died and passengers escaped safely

On February 26, 2013, Brian Boland of Post Mills, Vermont, took off in a hot air balloon with a passenger in a seat belt he made. Vermont police said that a pilot of a hot air balloon carrying 5 people died after being caught in a gear under the basket on Thursday, July 15, 2021. Shortly after takeoff, the balloon landed on the field, and a passenger fell but was not injured. After the pilot died, the other three passengers remained in the balloon until the balloon was caught in a wood about 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) north of Pyrmont, New Hampshire, where they were unharmed.
