Slightly underwhelmed by the recent trailers for Doctor Who, although this one isn't too bad:
But then the ones for series 1, 2 and 3 weren't that impressive either.
Still, while I might find it a bit on the pompous side, it apparently didn't rub me up the wrong way as much as the person over at 'Behind the Sofa' who saw fit to denounce it as “xenophobic” and “patriarchal,” bordering on the “fascist”.
Eh?

I like it. It does what it's supposed to - creates intrigue, expectation, mystery...
It may be a little pompous, but it's a TV trailer with just a few seconds in which to grab the audience's interest. And it does the job.
The most disappointing thing about it for me is that the daleks are back again. Can't they do a single series without the daleks?!
I *do* like it - I just think that episode clips are better than arty-farty stuff. (Mainly because I just want to see the episodes, now).
Yep, the Dalek's are getting old now. Although It'll be interesting to see what they do with ******, if the rumours about bringing him back are true.
I've only seen the one trailer, and the brief shot of ****'s face was a really annoying spoiler I thought. Nobody in the media can keep a secret any more. Although, that said, I was completely surprised when the Daleks popped up at the end of series 2.
Sorry, I of course mean series 28.
Basically, they could broadcast Alistair Darling in black-and-white doing his best monotone, saying "There's a new series of Doctor Who coming up," and that'd hook me completely!
Yes. Come on - Dr Who is Dr Who people.
Provided it is done as well as the current couple of 'incarnations' have been anyway.
I do take the point raised about the daleks though. Something original or something elso 'old' they could update might be nice.
Meanwhile what did everyone think of 'Ashes to ashes'& how does it compare to 'Life on Mars'?
[Warning: contains ruiner*.]
On the subject of Doctor Who and things I didn't want to know, I've just found out from Popbitch that Les Dennis used to cheat on his wife with Sophie Aldred, aka Ace.
Now there's a mental image to keep you behind the sofa...
* Like a spoiler, only far worse.

Was that the one they showed at Xmas? In which case that's a Sontaran at the end. (Apologies to anyone who didn't know they were coming back). But load's of people thought it was ******.

*Shudders*

Never managed to get into either - though I keep meaning to rent out LoM on DVD. I've heard lots of good things about it.
I prefer "arty-farty" trailers to episode clips, because episode clips just make me frustrated in what I *can't* see, whilst the arty-farty trailers make me excited about what I *can*!
Tonight's episode was great. Catherine Tate has removed a good bit of the "am I bovvered" from Donna, which improves the character immensely. Now I want next week's episode now!
