Fighting back for Christmas time

Christmas is under threat.

Religious groups and MPs last night warned that the multi-million pound Christmas card industry was losing sight of the real reason for celebrating the festive period.

- Daily Mail

It’s true. All this kerfuffle about irreligious Xmas cards, and the use of terms such “Winterval” and “Luminous” is merely the tip of a very large, very dangerous iceberg on a collision course with the very heart of our society. For too long now this time of year has been hijacked by a small band of miserly, narrow-minded individuals who – with no consideration for the feelings of the British people – has sought to impose their own bastardised version of the festive season onto everyone else.

I’m sure that I speak for the silent majority when I declare: Enough is enough. It’s time to shake off the rigid conformism which these people are attempting to thrust upon us and return to the true meaning of Christmas time.

Happy Winter Festival everyone - whatever your beliefs.

I hate the PC cleansing of anything that is interesting, inspiring, different from public life. I think that we can all live with a bit of Christian Imagery in our daily lives for a short time around this time of year. I mean what else would shops use to promote their wares at this time of year.

The problem is that you get people (across all walks of life) who aren't just happy to get along with their lives, but they want everyone else to do as they are as well.

In a multifaith country like the UK, we should see a real diversity of views around this time of year, with Christians, Muslims, Jew, atheists, etc. all allowed to celebrate in their particular way.
